mapbench

Terms of service

Not yet published. This deployment has not issued terms of service. Until it does, your agreement is whatever you have in writing with the organisation that gave you an account. If that is you, replace this page before inviting anyone outside your own team.

Your data stays yours

Bringing data into mapbench does not give up any ownership of it. It is kept privately for your organisation and used only to provide the service — putting it on a map, answering the questions you ask of it, and showing the maps you publish. Privacy sets out what is stored.

Credit requirements travel with data

Some data comes with conditions that stay attached however it is used. Public data from OpenStreetMap is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License; anything you build from it carries the same requirement, and mapbench keeps track so a published map can show the credit. Taking that credit off a map does not remove your obligation to give it.

Shared maps

A share link works for anyone who has it, with no account and no further check, until you withdraw it. Sending one is a decision to make that map available to whoever receives it.

Still to be written

  • Acceptable use, and what happens when it is breached
  • Availability, support and any service commitment
  • Warranties and limitation of liability
  • Fees, if any, and how they change
  • Suspension, termination, and what happens to your data afterwards
  • Governing law and jurisdiction
